Our causes

Where our service goes

We pursue the global causes of Lions Clubs International — delivered street by street, neighbor by neighbor.

Vision & Hearing

Free vision screenings, eyeglass and hearing-aid collection, and support for the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin. Sight is the Lions' founding cause — and still our heart.

Hunger Relief

Our pancake breakfasts and food drives keep neighbors fed, and support local pantries so no family in the Town of Genesee goes hungry.

Youth & Scholarships

Scholarships for local students, support for area schools, and youth activities that invest in the next generation of our community.

Health & Diabetes

Health screenings and diabetes awareness — a key global Lions cause — helping neighbors catch problems early and live well.

Environment

Roadside and park clean-ups, tree planting, and care for the Kettle Moraine landscape that makes our corner of Wisconsin special.

Community Support

Disaster relief, family assistance, and a helping hand for neighbors facing hard times — whenever and however we're needed.

How we make it happen

The events that fund our service

We don't just write checks — we earn them together, and have a great time doing it. Every event below puts dollars back into the community.

Lions pancake breakfast

Pancake Breakfasts

A Wales-Genesee tradition on Mother's Day and the second Sunday in October, 8–11 AM. All-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage and community spirit.

Lions car show

Lions Car Show New for 2026

Our inaugural car show rolls in September 12, 2026 — classic cars, food and family fun, all to benefit local causes.

Vision screening event

Dart Ball League

From November through March, our dart ball league fills the clubhouse with friendly competition — and supports our service fund all winter long.

Softball at Genesee Town Park

Softball & Concessions

In the warmer months you'll find us at Genesee Town Park running softball and concessions — good food for a good cause.

Our public bar is also open Tuesday through Friday from 4:00 PM, and hall rentals help keep our historic building thriving — both directly support the work above.

Frequently asked questions

What causes does the Wales-Genesee Lions Club support?

We focus on vision and hearing care, hunger relief, youth and scholarships, health and diabetes awareness, the environment, and general community support — the global causes of Lions Clubs International, delivered locally.

When are the pancake breakfasts?

We hold pancake breakfasts on Mother's Day and the second Sunday in October, from 8:00 to 11:00 AM at the Lions Clubhouse in Genesee Depot.

Do you have a dart ball league or softball?

Yes. Dart ball runs November through March at the clubhouse, and we field softball with concessions at Genesee Town Park in the warmer months.

How do the Lions raise money for service work?

Funds come from our public bar, pancake breakfasts, dart ball and softball, hall rentals, and the new car show debuting September 12, 2026. Money raised locally is reinvested in the local community.
